The TMG Academy are proud to host a 300 Seconds lighting talk.
What is it?
300 seconds is a series of talks, by and for the digital community. These events give digital creatives, in particular women, a means of gaining confidence and experience in public speaking.
The under-representation of women at technology and digital conferences is a well-documented phenomenon. Two of the most common reasons are that women lack confidence in speaking, and that conference organisers tend to use the same 'expert' speakers. 300 Seconds believe that digital is better when we can learn from the brilliance of the many, not just the few.
Why should I speak at 300 Seconds?
• If you’ve never spoken in public before but want to give it a try
• If you want to want to practice a new presentation
• If you want to shout from the rooftops about something you are working on or a project you are involved with
300 Seconds provides a safe, supportive space to practice your public speaking skills. Our aim is to encourage people from underrepresented groups who haven't done a lot of public speaking before.
If you are a seasoned speaker or presenter or talk giver we'd love for you to come along, listen, encourage our speakers and maybe even get involved with mentoring or sharing your experiences with others. But please leave the speaking slots for those just getting started.
What happens at the event?
We want to help our speakers develop a social media footprint, so we blog and tweet from our events. We also film the talks for our YouTube channel, but if you’re not comfortable having your video on there, just let us know.
